Forex Flash: BoJ preview - no further policy measures expected - NAB

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The BoJ meeting outcome will be announced later today - between 3.30 and 5.30GMT - though "no further policy measures will be announced so soon after the launch of the ‘QQME’ programme earlier this month" says NAB.

"The meeting comes after yesterday’s weekly MOF portfolio flows data shows Japanese investors sold a further ￥863bn of foreign bonds last week, so again no evidence as yet that life insurers and pension funds have started placing more funds abroad at the expense of domestic JGB holdings" NAB added.

The BOJ will announce its monetary policy decision later today. The time of the statement normally comes between 3.30 - 5.30GMT, but since no new policies are expected to be announced, it suggests no major delays.

Forex: AUD/NZD downtrend continues as pair finishes lower for 5th straight day

The AUD/NZD finished the session 17 pips lower at 1.2106. The pair was able to bounce off intraday lows of 1.2076 lows set early in the US session, but is now down 2.78% MTD in April. Trade Balance figures out of New Zealand were released earlier but overall reaction has been pretty quiet with the pair currently flat in Asia trade.
